Borrowing Fortune from Spirits: A Dangerous Shortcut

This morning, a reader named Tom messaged me.

He had recently joined a ritual said to change one’s fortune — something using the Five Elements and Bazi astrology. So far, all normal.

But then he said: “We borrow energy from spirits who no longer need their luck.”

Now that got my attention.

He described the process:

  • At dusk (7–9 PM), go to a large tree
  • Prepare five offerings from each of the Five Elements
  • Recite a specific chant to attract nearby spirits
  • Feed them
  • Then ask for an energy exchange — “their unused wealth for your devotion”

Does it work?

Probably.
Should you do it?

Absolutely not.

I consulted a fellow Taoist practitioner — we call him “7.”
He often dreams of the underworld and sometimes wakes up with unexplained marks on his body from his spirit work.

He agreed: it might bring results — but the cost is high.

Here’s why this is dangerous:

  1. Karmic Contamination:
You may take their luck, but you’ll also absorb their burdens — their debts, sickness, or unresolved energy.
  2. Yin-Yang Imbalance:
Humans are of yang, spirits of yin. Constant interaction pulls your energy out of balance — making you tired, sick, or emotionally unstable.
  3. Violation of Tao:
This method exploits a loophole in nature’s system. When Tao detects a glitch, it resets.
And trust me — you don’t want to be the glitch.

Tom asked what he should do instead.

My answer was simple:
Work with your own Five Element balance.
Use your birth chart, correct imbalances, and build your fortune naturally — without violating cosmic law.

That’s what Eltao Energy offers — realignment that respects the Tao.
