But if you were not supposed to get that extra $1,000 now — where did it come from?

It came from your future.

You may have just pulled income from Year 5 into Year 1. Now Year 5 will be thinner. Maybe even Year 6 and 7 will feel the ripple effect.

It’s like borrowing your own money… with high interest.
