Feeling Tired After Seeing Someone? It’s Your Energy Warning You

Walk Away — The Moment You Start Feeling Drained

Last week, I saw my old friend Angie.

She walked in looking like someone had unplugged her from the wall. Pale face, dull eyes, even her favorite milk tea couldn’t cheer her up.

“What happened to you?” I asked.

She sighed. “We went on a short trip with my husband’s sister and her family.”

Ah. That sister.

I remembered her from Angie’s previous complaints — the kind of person who can find fault with the sky being blue and the air being too clean. She could complain about soup being too soupy.

According to Angie, from the moment they arrived to the day they left, her sister-in-law complained nonstop. Work, society, her kids, the traffic, the hotel pillow. You name it, she hated it.

And here’s the twist:
After venting, her sister-in-law felt amazing.
Like she had just done yoga and drunk a green smoothie.
Meanwhile, Angie came home feeling like someone had drained her through a straw.

A woman sits quietly at a cafe table, looking mentally exhausted while someone talks across from her.

I told her:
“You didn’t just get annoyed. Your energy field was hijacked.”

☯️ Energy doesn’t always move logically.

In Taoism, we know: if your energy is stable and bright, you are more vulnerable to chaos.
Why? Because you’re open. You’re balanced. You’re receptive.

But when you sit next to someone full of heavy, turbulent energy — especially those who love to “emotionally unload” — it doesn’t just stay with them.
It jumps to you.
And they feel great afterward.
Why wouldn’t they? They just handed you the baggage.

🧿 So here’s a rule I live by:

If someone makes you feel off — even a little bit — LEAVE.

Don’t analyze it.
Don’t justify it.
Don’t wait for a second opinion.

Your body noticed what your brain didn’t.

You don’t owe anyone your energy.
Not your coworker, not your cousin, not even your in-laws.

People often ask me, “But what if I’m being rude?”
Let me ask you this instead:

What if your energy is sacred?

Would you still let someone throw garbage into your temple?

🧘 The strongest protection is not just a talisman or ritual.
It’s the wisdom to walk away.

You can always come back later.
But if you stay while being drained, it may take weeks — even months — to recover.

Be kind. But protect your field first.

A woman calmly walks away from a crowd, sunlight outlining her silhouette.

If you’ve been feeling off lately, maybe it’s not “you.”
Maybe it’s just time to walk away.
